SEPTEMBER, 2-3, 2010. MOSCOW. THE SECOND SESSION OF THE INTERNATIONAL PROJECT “SLOWAR: DICTIONARY OF WAR”. THE PROJECT IS ORGANIZED THROUGH THE PARTNERSHIP OF THE “LETTERRA.ORG” PROJECT1 AND “SCHOOL OF DRAMATIC ART”2 THEATER, WITH THE PARTICIPATION OF THE NATIONAL CENTER FOR CONTEMPORARY ARTS (NCCA) AND AT THE INITIATIVE OF THE “LOGOS PUBLISHERS” (MOSCOW) AND “MERVE VERLAG” (BERLIN)3 THE ACTION IS SUPPORTED BY THE DELEGATION OF THE EUROPEAN UNION TO RUSSIA, GOETHE-INSTITUT (MOSCAU), INFORMATIONAL AGENCY “ROSBALT”, POLISH CULTURAL CENTER (MOSCOW). THIS TIME THE PROJECT FOCUSES ON EXITS – WAYS OUT OF WAR (SLOWAR-X).

November 7-8 within the frames of the Book Festival “Old Values” – a project of the support of the intellectual alternative publishing in Russia, - LETTERRA.ORG presented a collection of statements from the Dictionary of War.
Presentation of the video-materials in the Centre for Contemporary culture "Garage"
October 31.
19:00 – 21:00 A non-stop video-screening of the materials of the Dictionary of War was held in the conference-hall of the Center of Modern Culture “Garage” within the frames of 3 Moscow Biennale. Thus the totality of the event was recreated for the new audience within the context of contemporary art, focusing our attention on its possibilities.
19:00 – 21:00 a discussion “Photographing death” involving the Russian participants of the Dictionary of War took place. It was dedicated to one of the most controversial exponents of the 3 Moscow Biennale – to a photograph by Kevin Carter, exposed by a famous artist Alfredo Jaar, that caught the world’s attention as a symbol of hunger in Africa, receiving a Pulitzer Prise, and aroused a tempest of controversy concerning its ethics. Very different aspects of “war and photography” were mentioned – ethical, journalistic, historical. What is a “good shot” – a call to humanity for help or a good prey for personal ambition? The discussion was held between Valery Podoroga, Yelena Petrovskaya, Vjacheslav Izmailov, Ilya Plekhanov, Arkady Babchenko.
